Rules and conditions of participation in the prize competition

1. General

BADEL 1862 dd, Ulica grada Gospića 7, Zagreb, Croatia, OIB: 36749512860 (hereinafter: Organizer) organizes the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition. BADEL MASTERCLASS is a prize competition in which participation is free, organized by the Organizer for the purpose of promoting the regional bartending scene, the products of the catering industry, the culture of consumption and preparation of strong alcoholic beverages, wine and cocktails, and is intended for all persons over the age of 18, residing in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia, and primarily to people who work or want to work in the hospitality industry (waiters, bartenders, cocktail masters and other people from the hospitality industry and other interested persons).

The BADEL MASTERCLASS competition as well as all related events will be recorded, and the recorded materials from the said events may be publicly shown and distributed via the Internet, various platforms, television and cable television, and according to the decisions and choice of the Organizer.

All participants who register for the prize competition will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in relation to knowledge, preparation, serving (hospitality), recognition and other practical and theoretical knowledge of the properties of strong alcoholic beverages, wine and cocktails, as well as knowledge of bartending skills.

All interested persons who meet the conditions of the prize competition can register for the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition via online registration on the website: badelmasterclasses.com.

The BADEL MASTERCLASS competition will be held through three rounds of competition:

  • The first exam round will be held online.
  • The second qualifying round will be held in 5 cities: Zagreb, Belgrade, Ljubljana, Sarajevo and Skopje.
  • The third final round will be held in Zagreb.

The first exam round will be held, after the registration and verification of the participants, through an online knowledge check through the website: badelmasterclasses.com.

The second qualifying round of the competition will be held in 5 cities: Zagreb (participants residing in Croatia), Belgrade (participants residing in Serbia and Montenegro), Ljubljana (participants residing in Slovenia), Sarajevo (participants residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Skopje (participants residing in North Macedonia).

In the second qualifying round (regional competitions), 20 first-placed candidates from the first exam round of the competition in each city where the second round of the competition is held (note: a total of 20 participants residing in Serbia and Montenegro will qualify for the competition in Belgrade), 20 each the person with the highest number of points on the overall scale for each host city, so that the first 20 candidates are taken from the order of registered candidates for each city, which represents a total of 100 candidates for the second qualification round.

The most successful participants from the second round of the competition will qualify for the third final round of the competition, which will be held in Zagreb. The third final round takes place in Zagreb in the period from April 8. until 16.04.2024. year, with the fact that the Organizer will promptly inform all participants of the competition who have qualified for the final competition (third final round) about the exact time and venue. The best rated competitors in the third final round of the competition will receive cash prizes, and the winner of the prize competition will become the Brand Ambassador of the Organizer.

In the event that, at the end of each round of the competition, it is determined that one of the participants is unable or does not meet the criteria for participation in the competition, the Organizer reserves the right to invite the next participant from the ranking list for each city, who meets all the conditions of the competition.

2. Participants

Contest participants can be all natural persons over 18 years of age residing in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia who apply to participate in the BADEL MASTERCLASS contest. Persons who are directly involved in the preparation and performance of the prize competition, as well as employees of the Organizer, Producer and Technical Scout, cannot participate in the prize competition. A legal entity cannot be a participant in the prize competition.

All competition participants who qualify for the second or third round of the competition should take care to ensure free time and availability to come to the regional and final competition according to the schedule published in the competition rules. The organizer will subsequently inform the participants about the dates and duration of the competition in the second and third rounds.

3. Registration for the prize competition

Registration and verification of participants is done in such a way that candidates in the period from 01.24. until 16.02.2024. of registering for the competition on the badelmasterclass.com website by opening their user account and receiving a confirmation of the opening of the user account on the badelmasterclass.com profile and/or the e-mail address specified in the user data. Verified participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills first through the first qualification exam, which will be held after the verification of registered candidates.

Registered participants will receive a message through their user profile on badelmasterclass.com and/or an email from contact@badelmasterclass.com with instructions on how to access the first exam round, which will take place on February 18, 2024. (Sunday) online on the website badelmasterclass.com through which they will demonstrate theoretical knowledge and skills by solving tasks (theoretical knowledge of strong alcoholic beverages, wines and cocktails and knowledge of bartending skills).

By registering for participation, the participant guarantees that the information and data provided for the purposes of the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition are correct and true, and it is considered that the participant irrevocably and unconditionally accepts the rules and conditions of participation in the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition.

4. Duration and place of implementation and prize competition program

The BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition is conducted through three rounds of the competition, at the time and in the manner determined by this section.

The first exam round of the competition
BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition begins with the qualification exam (first exam round), which will be held after the verification of the registered candidates, on February 18, 2024. online through the BADEL MASTERCLASS website ( badelmasterclass.com ). Registered participants, according to the instructions received, will be able to participate in the qualification exam online through the badelmasterclass.com site , through which they will demonstrate theoretical knowledge and skills by solving tasks and testing theoretical knowledge in relation to strong alcoholic beverages, wines and cocktails, as well as knowledge of bartending skills . In the first test round of the competition, when testing the participants, the accuracy and speed in solving the tasks will be evaluated, the time for solving the tasks will be limited. The best placed will be those participants who correctly answered the largest number of questions in the given time and had the fastest response time. All participants must take the exam at the given time according to the instructions of the Organizer, which will be subsequently delivered to the registered participants through the user profile on the website badelmasterclass.com and/or via notification from the e-mail address contact@badelmasterclass.com.

Competitors are evaluated by an expert jury, selected by the Organizer, consisting of experts and top experts in the preparation, serving, quality and other properties of strong alcoholic beverages, wine and cocktails.

Second qualifying round of the competition (regional competitions)
Competitors who pass the first round of the competition according to the evaluation of the expert jury, will qualify for the second round of the competition (regional competitions) which will be held during March 2024 in the following cities: Zagreb (20 participants residing in Croatia ), Belgrade (20 participants residing in Serbia and Montenegro), Ljubljana (20 participants residing in Slovenia), Sarajevo (20 participants residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Skopje (20 participants residing in North Macedonia). All participants will be notified within five days after the completion of the first round, via the website badelmasterclass.com and/or via notification from the e-mail address: contact@badelmasterclass.com , whether they have qualified for the second round of the competition, which on the occasion, the participants who qualified for the second round will receive all the necessary information about the further course of the competition.

The third final round of the competition

Competitors who collect the most points according to the evaluations of the expert jury at each of the regional competitions held in the mentioned cities will qualify for the third final round of the competition.

The third final round of the competition will be held in a facility (according to the Organizer’s choice) in Zagreb on April 8. until 16.04.2024. year, and about the exact time and location, the Organizer will inform the participants in a timely manner via the website badelmasterclass.com and/or via notification from the e-mail address: contact@badelmasterclass.com . The number of participants and detailed rules will be determined by the Organizer later.

Participants come to the second qualifying round (regional competitions) and the third final round of the competition in their own organization and at their own expense, and are obliged to provide and take with them glasses, bar equipment, decorations and other equipment for preparing cocktails. Competitors in the second and third rounds of the competition are evaluated by an expert jury, selected by the Organizer and composed of experts and top experts in the preparation, serving, quality and other properties of strong alcoholic beverages, wine and cocktails. The competition in the second round also involves various bartending skills. In the second and third rounds of the competition, knowledge and skills will be assessed and evaluated in relation to knowledge, preparation, serving (hospitality), recognition and other practical and theoretical knowledge about the properties of strong alcoholic beverages, wine and cocktails, as well as skills and knowledge of bartending skills.

(Note: The Organizer will publish a list of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a list of ingredients for cocktails that the Organizer can provide on the website badelmasterclass.com and/or via notification from the e-mail address: contact@badelmasterclass.com . In the event that participants in in their applications for cocktail recipes, intend to use drinks or ingredients outside the list published by the Organizer, they are obliged to obtain them themselves and bring them to the competition. To prepare cocktails, participants can only use ingredients purchased over the counter. It is not allowed to use ingredients and preparations made at “home made” so-called “home made” preparations.)

The results will be publicly announced and available on the website badelmasterclass.com after each round of the competition and published through the media and social networks.

The Organizer will inform all candidates in a timely manner about all the conditions necessary for participation and the details necessary to prepare for the competition in each round of the competition via the email address contact@badelmasterclass.com and/or through the profile on the website badelmasterclass.com.

5. Awards and rewarding

At the end of the second qualifying round of the BADEL MASTERCLASS award competition, the Organizer will award the BMC package as a prize to the competitors who have qualified for the third final round of the competition.

The winner of the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition will be the best-rated competitor, according to the evaluations of the expert jury, in the third final round of the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition, which will be held in Zagreb.

  • The winner of the award competition becomes the Brand Ambassador of the Organizer (receives a one-year contract) and the Organizer will award him a cash prize in the amount of EUR 30,000.00.
  • The Organizer will award the runner-up competitor a cash prize in the amount of EUR 4,000.00
  • The Organizer will award a monetary prize in the amount of EUR 2,000.00 to the third-placed competitor.

Non-monetary prizes are not exchangeable and cannot be claimed for their monetary value. If it is determined that among the awarded contestants there is a contestant who does not meet the conditions for participation or accepting the prize, or the Organizer finds irregularities in the participation process in relation to a certain contestant, the prize will not be awarded to such a contestant. The list of winners with name and surname will be published at the end of each regional competition and at the end of the final round of the competition in Zagreb, and will be published on the Organizer’s website ( badelmasterclass.com ), on the Organizer’s social networks and in the media. All participants of the BADEL MASTERCLASS award competition expressly and irrevocably agree to the publication of their personal data on the Organizer’s website and social networks.

6. Collection of prizes

The condition for receiving a prize is that the participants agree to the rules and meet the conditions for participation in the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition. The organizer will hand over the non-monetary prizes or BMC packages to the winners immediately after the completion of each of the regional competitions or the final round of the competition.

Cash prizes will be paid to the winner’s account within ten working days from the moment of submission of the account information of the individual competitor. Prize winners are required to submit their account information in writing to the Organizer’s e-mail address: contact@badelmasterclass.com within five working days after the final round of the competition. If the winner does not meet the conditions for claiming the prize defined by these rules, i.e. refuses to claim the prize or refuses to claim it or refuses to give the Organizer information about his account, it will be considered that he does not want to receive the prize, which relieves the Organizer of all obligations towards the winner and thus the Organizer receives the right to dispose of the unallocated prize for other purposes.

7. Exclusion of liability

The Organizer, Producer and Technical Contractor assume no responsibility for:

  • non-functioning of the website, which is a consequence of the failure of the network of contracted partners or the loss of electricity or other technical disturbances that may temporarily interfere with the use of internet profile services;
  • any consequences that the participants may suffer as a result of participating in the prize draw that the Organizer or its subcontractors have no influence on;
  • non-participation of contestants in any of the three rounds of the competition due to their inability to make contact and connect to the Internet, i.e. the BADEL MASTERCLASS channel on badelmasterclass.com or the inability to arrive at the destinations where the second and/or third round of the competition takes place;
  • any consequences when using the prize.

8. Protection of privacy and personal data of participants

The personal data of the prize competition participants is processed by the Organizer – Badel 1862 dd, Ulica grada Gospića 7, Zagreb, OIB: 36749512860, in the capacity of personal data processing manager. Badel 1862 dd undertakes, when conducting the prize competition, to act with collected personal data in accordance with the Law on the Implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation and the General Regulation on Personal Data Protection (EU) 2016/679, as a result of which it provides all participants of the prize competition below with information on the processing of their personal data. Personal data of prize competition participants are processed by the Organizer for the following purposes:

  • for the implementation and implementation of this prize competition;
  • to inform participants about the outcome of the prize competition;
  • publication on the Organizer’s website and any other publication in print and electronic media, social networks or any other form.

Personal data of prize competition participants are processed on the basis of the participant’s voluntary and unequivocal consent given in accordance with point 9 of these rules. The collected data of prize winners will be available to the Organizer and stored on the server of the Organizer (processor) and the Producer and Technical Contractor (processors) until the end of the prize competition, and will be kept, according to the Ordinance on the Protection and Storage of Archive and Registry Materials, for 5 years on the Organizer’s server. Collected personal data is not transferred to third countries. The collected personal data of other competition participants, who did not win prizes, will be kept for 5 years after the end of the prize competition, after which they will be permanently deleted, unless the Organizer has a legitimate interest in their longer storage, for example, in the event of a participant’s complaint or court proceedings . In accordance with the General Regulation on the Protection of Personal Data, each participant has the right to access, correct, delete and limit the processing of personal data relating to him, as well as the right to object to the processing and the right to data portability. The participant can submit an objection to the processing of personal data to the Agency for the Protection of Personal Data. Participants can exercise their rights by contacting the personal data protection officer at the email address: Osobni.Podaci@badel1862.hr.

9. Consent for the processing of personal data

By participating in the prize competition, the participant gives his voluntary and unequivocal consent to the processing of his personal data for the purposes and in the manner specified in these rules. Providing personal data of the prize competition participants is a prerequisite for participation, and without this, participation in the prize competition is not possible. Prize competition participants expressly agree that the Prize Competition Organizer uses their personal data for the purposes of the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition and for its sales activities (informing about products, services, prize games and other promotional activities). Prize winners in the prize competition expressly allow the Organizer to publish their personal data in the media and on the Internet with the aim of informing about the results of the prize competition, i.e. claiming the prize. The participant has the right to withdraw his consent at any time by sending a request to the personal data protection officer at the email address: Osobni.Podaci@badel1862.hr. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the legality of personal data processing prior to the withdrawal of consent. In case of withdrawal of consent to the processing of personal data, the participant will not be able to participate in the prize competition.

10. Availability of prize competition rules

The rules of the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition are published on the Organizer’s website ( badelmasterclass.com ) and are available to all participants during the prize competition. By participating in the prize competition, participants confirm that they are familiar with the rules of the prize competition, that they accept and agree with them. In the event of any dispute or ambiguity, these rules shall prevail over any other publication in print and electronic media or in any other form. The authentic interpretation of these rules is determined solely by the Organizer and/or the Technical Contractor. The Organizer will inform the participants about important changes and additions to the Competition Rules via the user profile and/or publish them on the badelmasterclass.com page.

11. Audio and video recording

The Organizer and the Producer have the right to photograph, record and reproduce all events from the competition. All other forms of recording represent a violation of the provisions of the Competition Regulations. Recordings and photos from the competition can be used for broadcasting in all media, social networks, websites and other known channels, for different purposes.

12. Other provisions

The organizer will not accept late, incomplete or incorrectly completed applications for the prize competition. The decisions of the Organizer and the Technical Contractor of the prize competition on all issues related to the prize competition are final and valid for all participants. The organizer of the prize competition and the Technical Contractor reserve the right to change these rules if required by legal, technical or commercial reasons. Participants will be notified of any possible changes to the rules by posting them on the Organizer’s website. Continuing to participate in the prize contest after the announcement of any changes to the rules means that the participant accepts and agrees with the changes. The court in Zagreb is competent for all possible disputes arising during the duration of the BADEL MASTERCLASS prize competition that cannot be resolved by agreement.
